    At Lion, our people are critical to the success of our business.

    We’re committed to helping them be the best they can be to really make a difference, and have a great time doing it. We actively foster an agile, high growth culture to promote long term sustainability, with a special focus on diversity and inclusion.

    We’re proud of our journey so far, which has included closing the gender pay gap, establishing the Women at Lion Leadership Program, running unconscious bias training and ensuring progress towards achieving our 50:50 gender balance target by 2026. We’re an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality as awarded by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency in Australia (WGEA) and we hold the Gender Tick certification in New Zealand.

    Lion publicly supported Marriage Equality in Australia, and in 2018 we achieved the Rainbow Tick certification in NZ for being a safe, welcoming and inclusive place for people of diverse gender identity and sexual orientation. We are also a member of Pride in Diversity, which partners with organisations in Australia to help them become more inclusive of LGBTIQA+ people.

    We recognise and support the different families our diversity brings, and our Families at Lion program helps our people be successful at work and at home. It’s inclusive of all types of families, whether heterosexual or same sex, single parents, step parents, blended families, adoptive parents and families without children. We support the needs of our people in pregnancy and family planning, transition to parenthood, returning to work, eldercare and childcare. Importantly, our policy also provides support options for anyone experiencing or at risk of experiencing family or domestic abuse.

    All of this is part of our drive to build an inclusive, diverse and fair place to work, where everyone can be themselves, because it’s diversity of thought that challenges us and sparks breakthrough ideas.

    But it doesn’t stop there. We believe achieving great results is more important than time spent at the desk, so we’ve mainstreamed flexible work across the business with LionFlex. It gives our people flexibility and help them be their best in all areas of their lives.

    Happy and energised people are more effective and productive, so our approach to safety and wellbeing takes into account mental and emotional health as well as physical health and safety. We give our people tools and support for better wellbeing overall, so they can continue to be high-performing people who bring purpose to their work.
