XXXX response to baseless claims made on Thursday 1 March by United Voice Queensland

“We recently recruited five new permanent team members, with these workers now in their jobs at the Brewery, so any doubt to our commitment to permanent, full time jobs in Queensland is clearly baseless.”

“We mentioned these new roles last July, the last time the Union made false claims about the Brewery.”

“The Union has asked to know what team XXXX is on, well for a second time our brewers are hearing about baseless claims via the media – maybe the Union should be asking themselves that question?”

    Regarding current negotiations:

We have been negotiating in good faith with the Union since June, and will continue to do so to reach an agreement.  We have sought conciliation help from FWA in an effort to progress things.

What we’re asking for is the flexibility to use additional Queensland contractors when there’s a need.  We do this at our other Breweries in other states, where the Unions have accepted their use in those agreements.

Any contractors get the same rates as our workers on site.  They’re used to cover different scenarios including sick leave, long service leave or cover for fluctuations in market demand.

We have arguably the best pay and conditions in brewing in Queensland, if not in the whole of the food and beverage manufacturing sector.

We are confident that our commitment to the site is clear to our team members at Milton.

The Union has approval to ballot members about protected action, this ballot has yet to be conducted.
